Hi dear! How are you? (sometimes I think this is a trick question given the situation of things;like they want you to lie because your default answer will almost always be “fine”.) Good to know you are fine, I am fine too thanks for asking.
So it’s not that I’m not fine or anything, and it’s not that I am feeling down in anyway but the so many happening around make it difficult for one to want to keep at it,so I looked up some quotes on Perseverance and I thought to share them with you guys.
This month alone Guiness Nigeria laid off over four hundred(400) employees, Nigerian Brewries also laid off employees, this month, banks laid of staff as well even at managerial levels, there is crisis in UNIPORT, UNILAG embarked on a compulsory break in order to sort out some issues (at least that’s what I tell my friends who are not in the country). So anyhow we look at this a lot of people need motivation, they need reasons to want to keep on; our parents are losing their jobs, we the children are facing new hurdles as we struggle to get degrees… To get these degrees and come out to the Labour market, the Labour market which has so little job security;they are laying off employees triple the rate they are hiring… Phew it’s hard, but there are some fine quotes I picked out in my order of preference, when we take these quotes on Perseverance and persistence to heart and back them up with hard work and prayer we should be just fine.
10. “If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that is regarded as being the most highly correlated with success whatever the field, I would pick perseverance;the will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up and say ‘here comes seventy-one'”
I like this quote, the only question I have about it is the part that says “… endure to the end… And it makes me wonder when exactly the end is, in light of recent events when does it actually end?
9. Perseverance is the greatest element of success;if you knock hard and long enough you are bound to wake somebody.
The only way you won’t wake somebody is if there is nobody at home or they are all hung over…(me)
8. “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not, nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
I really like this one, the fact that it lists out all the other things which are important but apparently not the most important ingredients. However, I would like to point out that we have to be persistent in the right direction; Persistence in the wrong things won’t change their outcome, I’m afraid that path is to constant failure… “backtoback”.
7.”The road to success is dotted with too many tempting parking spaces”
This is so true;so over the last couple of days I have had lots of free time, precious time… But more often than not I didn’t drive, I parked in many of the various tempting parking spaces… The ones on boredom Avenue, movie Street, idleness lane and even nothingness Close…
6.”In the confrontation between the stream and the rock the stream always wins not through strength;but by Perseverance.
This is deep and pretty in itself so im not going to dwell on it.
5.”We are not judged by the number of times we fail, but by the number of times we succeed which is in direct proportion to the number of times we fail and keep trying.”
4.”Subbornly persist and you would find out that the limits of your stubbornness go way beyond the stubbornness of your limits.
3.”A difficult time can be more readily endured if we retain the conviction that our existence holds a purpose, a cause to pursue, a person to love and a goal to achieve.
We always need something to hold on to, something to keep us going… But I think the part that says “a person to love… “should more often than not be ourselves; cos loving someone and making them your will to want to be better doesn’t say what will happen to you when they are gone… But if that person is you then I mean, you’ll always have yourself right? Call me a narcissist but that’s how I see it.
2.”Know what you truely want in life, then work like mad to get it. At the same time try not to do too many things at once, the number one thing today and tomorrow… Persevere and then get it done.
This particular one really speaks to me… Most of us don’t truly know what we want, granted we all know we want to be successful and rich and what not but that’s not a plan, it’s merely wishful thinking. Know what you truly want, to be successful doing what? To get rich how? See ehn, even if you are going to be successful from stealing you have to plan o! You have to know what you truly want to steal, plan, case the area, have a back up plan… Even stealing is not easy when you want to be successful at it. Also have you noticed that the professional thieves in the movies we watch always know what they truly want, they pick the one valuable item, case the area and extract just that item… They don’t do too many things at the same time and we shouldn’t either.
1.”If you are going through hell, keep going.”
This is short and simple and one may wonder why I like it so much, but then; it points out the difference between saying figuratively that you are in hell and saying that you are going through hell… If you say you are going through hell then there is hope, keep going you would most probably come out of it.
So next time you want to say something of this sort you can say, our country is going through hell (for example) while we keep working, hoping and praying, hopefully we would come out on the other side.
Does this image not just give you hope for a brighter future… Lol it gives me this weird hope tho, plus I was tired of the regular images and so I decided to play with them. Look out for the outfit details.
So I called this one smart casual cos its not formal and at the same time it’s not a dress down; if you are in my age bracket and you actually think it’s a big deal how you look then this is one of the real life headaches you must be having; trying to look good, smart and at the same time still trying to look your age. You know how they say “swag is for boys and class is for men” how about just sitting right in the middle with this look?
I think the major game changer for this look is the shoes which i’v also styled before here
I like the hot and at the same time calm look it has to it… Not the “I’m going to close that deal” look or the “I’m a huge fan of American rap artists” look.
My personal bias anyway, what do you have to say? Have you faced situations that needed constant Perseverance to get out of recently? Also what’s your own idea of a classy not so formal look? I would really love to hear from you, please do leave your comments God bless and thanks for your time, I know this was a really long read.
